Neil started in the grain business literally at the bottom. His first job, while attending Hamline University in St Paul, Minnesota, was in a bin bottom of an old Minneapolis grain elevator where he shoveled CCC oats for Victoria Elevator Co. After graduating in 1973 he was moved to Winona, Minnesota where he was responsible for managing the plant as well as originating corn and soybeans for their barge loading facility. The Swiss firm, Garnac, purchased the elevator and moved Neil to Minneapolis to open an office for them there. In 1979 he began brokering primarily barge Wheat in the cif New Orleans market but also handled Grain Sorghum as well as PIK Certificates.
Neil has been married to Nancy for 32 years and they have two adult children. His interests include: running, reading, golf, travel and owning farmland.
